Consultation

Diabetes Clinic:  Dr. Manuela Reisbeck

Diabetic patients are at a higher risk for cardio-vascular disease than the non-diabetic population of the same age.

Diabetic patients are at a higher risk for cardio-vascular disease than the non-diabetic population of the same age. This means they are more likely to develop atherosclerosis, calcified blockages of the arteries in our bodies, causing heart attacks, strokes and peripheral artery disease, the narrowing of the arteries in the legs.

Prevention and risk reduction

In our Diabetes Care Clinic, we follow our diabetic patients closely to ensure optimal sugar control using modern medication therapies.

Further cardio-vascular risk factors like cholesterol and high blood pressure are also monitored carefully, thus reducing the cardio-vascular risk and preventing the development of vascular disease.

We strongly recommend additional nutritional counselling which we offer during separate sessions with our nutritionist.

Early detection

A regular check-up program, tailored exactly to your clinical needs, will ensure regular screening for possible diabetes-induced complications. Early detection of possible development of heart disease, vascular disease and kidney disease will ensure quick therapeutic response to put you back on track.

A typical follow-up program involves regular checks every 3-12 months (depending on your individual status) with ultrasound exams of your heart and vessels, ABI exams, 24H-Holter Blood pressure test, control of cholesterol and kidney function, urine analysis and ECG/Stress Test.

An individually designed follow-up program itinerary will be provided to you after your first consultation.
